Located just outside New Haven, Branford is a charming coastal town that spans 22 square miles, much of it nestled below Interstate 95 along the picturesque Long Island Sound. Neighborhood Highlights

  • Short Beach: This westernmost neighborhood boasts its own zoning board, preserving the area’s charm for over 100 years. Home to the Yale Corinthian Yacht Club, Short Beach is a peaceful enclave with a rich history.

  • Pine Orchard: Known for its stately homes dating back to Branford’s early 1900s summer colony days, Pine Orchard is famous for its yacht and country club, where membership is highly sought after.

Recent renovations at Francis Walsh Intermediate School have added state-of-the-art maker spaces, interactive classrooms, and even a swimming pool. Branford High School serves around 800 students, with SAT scores in reading and writing, and math, consistently above the state averages.

Easy Commuting Options

Commuting from Branford is convenient whether by train or car. Shore Line East trains run regularly to New Haven, where you can connect to Metro-North for a direct ride to Grand Central Station in New York City, just over two hours away. The History

Branford is proud of its deep historical roots, and nowhere is that more evident than at the Legacy Theatre in the Stony Creek neighborhood. Following a nearly $5 million renovation, this historic building has reopened as a vibrant performance space. Originally a silent movie house in the 1920s, the building later became a puppet theater before transforming into the Legacy Theatre we know today. With performances 150 days a year, it’s a cultural gem that showcases the rich history and artistic spirit of the community.
